The maintenance of your coat is always done by the dry cleaner. It costs money but it will preserve the quality of your piece, its longevity and its waterproofness.
Tip: To avoid unpleasant odors, remember to air your clothes after wearing them. You don't put a jacket that has been worn for a few hours directly into your closet.
BUYING A SECOND-HAND COAT?
You can also consider this option. It is not uncommon to find beautiful second hand coats, very little worn, on Vestiaire Collective or Vide Dressing for brands like Hermes, Prada, Dior... Or on Vinted for a Sandro or The Kooples jacket.
You can even resell yours to finance a new favorite.
WHICH COAT FOR WHICH BUDGET?
Let's face it, a nice coat for men in a nice material requires a relatively large budget.
Count at least 300 to 400 euros.
Quality has a price and it's rarely in the low-cost ready-to-wear stores that you can find THE piece. And if it is the case, you risk to cross many people with the same parka or the same jacket.
To give you a better idea, here are 3 coats in three different ranges:
1) ENTRY-LEVEL COAT - IN THE 100 EUROS
In this price range, the choice is vast and you have to be patient to find the right coat.
Navy blue wool blend coat River Island
River Island wool blend pea coat 60% wool - 3% viscose - 3% nylon (polyamide) - 30% polyester - 4% acrylic at 30 euros
Brands we recommend: Uniqlo, Zara, Asos, Topman, Selected...
2) MID-RANGE COAT - BETWEEN 300 AND 800 EUROS
The most interesting price range with the best quality/price ratio
KIRKWALL CABAN Balibaris
Kirwall coat Balibaris 70% wool - 20% polyester - 10% polyamide at 425 euros
The brands we recommend : La Comédie Humaine, Cavalier Bleu, Balibaris, Paul Smith...
3) HIGH-END COAT - OVER 800 EUROS
Fine fabric, natural and warm material, tight fit. We are at the top of the range. We are talking about an investment at this price level. Beware of "haute couture" brands that tend to charge a lot for the brand and the marketing for average products.
